Here is a list of things you must check before you come in for your tuning appointment. You need to pay close attention to detail before bringing your car in for your appointment. All of these policies will be enforced at every appointment. We do this so that we are able to give you the best tuning appointment possible.
Please make arrangements prior to scheduling a dyno appt to make repairs we will gladly fix any issues your car may have with advanced notice.
WE STOCK NGK PLUGS IN HEAT RANGES 6,7,8,9,11. IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO PURCHASE A SET PLEASE BRING AT LEAST ONE SET, THEY WILL NEED TO BE CHANGED AT LEAST ONCE DURING THE TUNING APPOINTMENT
Electrical Issues
- Codes-Please do not come to your appointment with your check engine light on.
- The only exceptions to this are O2 sensor code, 02-heater code, and knock sensor code. These may be disabled at your tuning session. Please call us if you are not sure if a sensor will be disabled.
- Wiring- DO NOT twist and tape wires. Please take the time to solder or use proper crimps.
- Alternator / Battery -Should be charging at the proper Volts at all operating conditions.
Exceptions to this are racecars running 16 Volt battery, or a crank pulley that under drives the alternator (i.e. Fluidamper/ A TI pulleys)
Grounds
Make sure you have good clean grounds. There are 3 major grounds on most cars
- Battery to chassis
- Transmission case to chassis
- Engine to chassis
Fuel
- Fuel pumps: DO NOT install any pump if there is dirt, debris, or any rust in the tank. If you are sumping your tank, make sure your tank is free of metal chips, debris, and welding slag.for those running external fuel pumps, please check the pre and post filter before tuning session. We recommend stainless filters for aftermarket external fuel pump setups. Paper filters can deteriorate and collapse over time please call us if you need help properly sizing your fuel system
- Fuel Pressure: For any application, we recommend having a fuel pressure gauge.
- Fuel Pressure regulator (FPR): Aftermarket FPR is not necessary for every application. If fuel pressure is greater than 50 psi, make sure to get a regulator.
- Injectors: Make sure there are no Vacuum or fuel pressure leaks as a result of old or torn o- rings.
Mechanical Issues
ENGINE COMPRESSION
- DO NOT have more than 20psi difference between cylinders. DO NOT come to your tuning appointment where there are only 3 cylinders that have good compression and one that does not!
- Valve Lash: Your engine must have the correct valve lash for the cams being used. OEM or aftermarket
Timing Belt
- Must be installed properly
- Tension should be checked and adjusted properly. If it is to loose you could run the risk of it skipping a tooth or running incorrect timing. Lower timing covers must be in place so that we can properly check your timing. We will not tune a car if we cant verify the timing
Oil leaks
- Make sure there are no leaks at all if your car has any leaks on the dyno there will be a clean up charge of $75.00
** All leaks will need to be repaired before tuning. If you can't seem to do it let us do it! Just call and make an appointment before your tuning session.Do NOT assume this will be done on day of tuning appointment. **
Turbo Systems
- Make sure you have secured your charge pipes so that they do not blow off at a tuning appointment. It is more difficult to fix these issues once the car is strapped on the dyno. All pipes using silicone couplers should be bead rolled or have welds on end to secure them from blowing off
- Make sure all bolts are tightened; in particular, the exhaust manifold bolts, and turbo flange. This would be considered an exhaust leak and you will loose power as a result.
- Make sure the blow off valve is tight and plumbed correctly. Do you want it to sound cool, or work properly?
- Turbo shaft play. Don't expect that you can come to an appointment and make BIG hp with a turbo that is shot. Please get it rebuilt or buy a new one.
- Make sure the O2 sensor bung is big enough to fit the common wideband sensors
IF REPAIRS ARE NEEDED DURING THE DYNO SESSION AN $85 PER HR CHARGE WILL APPLY AND WE CANNOT GUARANTEE WE WILL FINISH THE TUNE IF WE SPEND HALF THE SESSION MAKING REPAIRS. PLEASE MAKE AN APPT. PRIOR TO DYNO SESSION FOR REPAIRS, WE WILL BE GLAD TO HELP
